A BILL to amend the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §21A-2-24, relating to the bureau of employment programs; conducting comparative cost-of-living studies within the fifty-five counties of the state; and reporting the results of the study to the joint committee on government and finance by the first day of December every year.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §21A-2-24, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 2. THE COMMISSIONER OF THE BUREAU OF EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS.

§21A-2-24. Comparative cost-of-living study.

The bureau of employment programs, by its commissioner, shall conduct comparative cost-of-living studies of fifty-five counties of the state to determine any differences in the cost of living that may be shown in those counties. The results of those studies shall be reported to the joint committee on government and finance of the Legislature no later than the first day of December every year beginning in two thousand four.

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require the Bureau of Employment Programs to conduct comparative cost-of-living studies within fifty-five counties of the state and report the results of the study to the Joint Committee on Government and Finance of the Legislature by the first day of December every year.
